Fundraising

The PTO budget this year is approximately $60,000. This money supports field trips and enrichment opportunities for all lawton students throughout the year. The PTO raises funds to support this budget in three primary ways: direct donations, special events, and shopping programs.

Direct Donations

The Lawton PTO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As such, your direct donation to the PTO is tax deductible. The PTO expects to spend $120 per student this year. If you are able, please consider donating this amount.

And don't forget to check with your employer: some will match contributions to non-profits!

Special Events

The PTO holds several fundraising events throughout the year, including:

  • Run-a-thon (early Fall)
  • Silent Auction (late Winter)
  • Ice Cream Social (June)
  • Scholastic Book Fair (November)
  • Used Book Sale (March)

Shopping Programs

It's easy to support the Lawton PTO just by doing your normal shopping, both locally and online (scroll down for full details):

Box Tops for Education

How It Works

Keep an eye out for the Box Tops for Education logo on the products that you may already be buying (e.g. General Mills, Annie's, Ziploc, Nature Valley, Heft, and many more). Cut out the Box Tops and send them in to school with your child. Every classroom has a collection bin, and Lawton receives $0.10 for every Box Top collected!

eScrips

Lawton has been registered with eScrip online shopping. A percentage of all sales will be donated to Lawton's PTO by the retailer you shop with.

This is an opportunity for us to raise funds for school without affecting our family budgets, while doing your usual online shopping. Shopping with eScript is easy! Just create an account, choose Lawton as the school to support and start shopping!

Two ways to shop:

  1. Shop Online: just start at shopping.escrip.com and shop at any of hundreds of online retailers. Whether you're buying gifts, a few staples for around the house, or even a trip to Hawaii, you'll find most retailers you know and love available through the eScrip program.
  2. Shop or Dine in Person: There aren't many stores or restaurants in the Ann Arbor area, but if you'll be traveling, check out the list of stores and restaurants that participate.
